Dreama

Dreama is a system designed to support a body in a good position during rest or sleep. The ideal position for sleep is one that is both:
1) comfortable, allowing relaxation and sleep and
2) good for your body.

Dreama has been designed to offer both these things at once.
Dreama can support a body in almost any position -
- Lying back down - Supine
- Lying front down - Prone
- Lying on the side
If your positional needs change then you just change the position.

For many years therapists have worked to provide good position during day-time activities for people with all manner of support needs. Usually this is done by using specially designed therapy furniture which is then adjusted for each individual. Dreama now offers this same postural support during sleep or rest.

Dreama is suitable for a wide user group including those whose needs arise from; cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophies, awaiting or convalescing after surgery, trauma, arthritic conditions and neurological conditions to name but a few.

The small diagrams below give you an idea of how Dreama can improve posture for rest or sleep. There are many times when postural support is needed and many positions in which people may need to be supported. Dreama can accomodate most of these offering comfort and improved rest along with the advantages of better posture.

Individual joints or the whole body can be supported to stop stronger muscles on one side of the body pulling to that side. This uneven pull can lead to asymmetry and joints can stiffen, sometimes permanently. Dreama can continue the work done by our therapeutic furniture through the day to reap huge "all through the night" benefits. Many users report regularly increased sleep times and improved daytime function both physically and mentally.

Dreama has been chosen as a Millennium Product by the Design Council showing it to be a product designed with experience of the past leading the way into the future.

Dreama comes as a complete system with two full sets of covers plus some extras. Individual soiled cushion covers can be changed easily without the need to change the whole bed, a real blessing in the middle of the night. Six Glide-Lock support pads come as standard and accessories are available for more specific postural support.

The Glide-Lock supports are simply pushed into place by a carer and they lock into position and cannot be moved by the user. Glide-Locks are silent so sleep is not disturbed by noise. Dreama is made up of individual cushions attached to an aluminium base and allows air to circulate freely around a resting body preventing overheating, which can be a problem for some people.

Dreama can be used on an adjustable electric bed base or on top of a standard 3ft. bed (straps are provided to secure Dreama to whichever bed you choose). Dreama is upholstered in a waterproof, breathable, two way stretch, anti-bacterial fabric and comes complete with a set of support pads and baby soft washable terry sheets. Special sizes can be made to order.

Dreama is also available to fit a standard cot.
